This was part of a larger project to design and build a high-speed train. Here, as part of my Bachelor’s thesis, I contributed a web interface for parameterization and maintenance of the automated door.
Project Description
The overall project for the development of the high-speed train, the German ICE 4, was led by Siemens, of which TH Electronic was a subcontractor with the task of implementing the electromechanical controls of the compartment separating doors developed by their client.
Our task was also to provide an interface and integrate the doors with the train’s wider Industrial Ethernet system. This would allow the doors to be continuously monitored, making maintenance easier. It also allows for centralized control, which can, for example, facilitate escape in the event of an emergency.
Personal Contributions
To the development of this train compartment separating door, I contributed the following:
- Implemented a web interface for the configuration and maintenance of an automated train compartment separating door (used in the ICE 4)
- Designed a solution to the problem of integrating the system with the PROFINET (Industrial Ethernet) system of the whole train
- Presented and explained valuable insights from technical analysis of the problem and possible solution approaches to colleagues with different professional backgrounds
Technology Used | Purpose |
---|---|
HTML/CSS | Styled markup to create a tabular dashboard for configuring parameters, such as motor voltage |
PHP | Server-side form validation and interfacing with the configuration file |
PROFINET | Industrial Ethernet standard to integrate our automated door with the rest of the train |
